The path chosen by two young artists After training in circus arts and specialising in aerial shows at the National Centre for Circus Arts in Chalons en Champagne, Melissa Von Vépy and Cholé Moglia started looking for ideas for their duo performance on the trapeze. “We were looking for something to do with the trapeze and its relation to the ground. How to relate the pleasure of being air borne and the pull of the Earth’s gravity”. In 2001, while with the Compagnie Moglice Von Verx, they created their first show L’endroit du regard followed by two other creations Un certain endroit du ventre (Somewhere in the middle) and Temps trouble (Troubled times), mixing theatre and dance. The two women took a chance to give the spectator a new kind of circus, combining theatricals, dance and physical strength and prowess. Un certain endroit du ventre, a highly skilled aerial ballet. Two women, one naively perched precariously high, dangerously ignoring the ground beneath her while the other refuses to leave it because it is already hers. This is the story of their negotiation with the empty gulf between them… A brilliant show by Cholé Moglia and Melissa Von Vepy where theatre, dance, poetry and music help the circus arts come into full bloom. Somewhere in the middle suggests something radically different for the greatest pleasure of the eyes and the heart. Posted by Hello
