Malaysian Artistes For Unity

At a press conference held on 16th May 2008 at The Olive, Pacific Regency Hotel, Kuala Lumpur , Pete Teo announced that the song and video had been released into the public domain for free downloads.

He also said that Astro has confirmed hourly rotation for the next three weeks across 9 – 15 stations, Media Prima will put the music video on heavy play, especially on 8tv and in August they will use various materials of the project to lead their 08/08/08 campaign including making spoofs and alternative versions. The public will be invited to do the same via competitions.

Malaysian Artistes For Unity is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit national unity project made possible by the participation of over 120 notable Malaysians. Enlisted to the project over a short period of 2 weeks in April 2008, these participants range from artistes, celebrities, arts activists, media- personalities, musicians, dancers, sportsmen, filmmakers, web designers, producers, technicians, poets, models and more. All participants contributed their effort on a pro-bono basis.

The Miri International Jazz Festival is back again for the third time this year,and it aims to be the leading tourism-driven music festival in the region. By assembling regionally and internationally recognised, jazz musicians, the event aims to draw visitors to Miri and the Northern Region of Sarawak for a fun-filled and entertaining experience and at the same time showcasing Miri as a city of cosmopolitanism and relaxing lifestyle.

Nine bands from 9 countries will take to the stage with their Latino, Caribbean, Afro-Cuban, oriental and blues brand of music. This year’s ensemble includes old favourite Habana Sax from Cuba, new up and coming band Borneo Jazz Quartet from Sarawak and seven other world-renowned jazz performers – vocal jazz/swing band Mood Indigo from UK, Chicago-styled blues band Diamond Dave and The Doodaddies from Australia, five-piece progressive jazz band Oma Sound led by a 74-year old bassist Isao Suzuki from Japan, the sultry Charmaine Clamor from Philippines, the soulful Amar Sundy from Algeria, the Latin jazz/Afro Cuban/Salsa band Rumba Calzada from Vancouver and the lively 16-piece band T’Inventielke from Holland.

XLife Festival

XLive Festival will be the first outdoor music festival to be held in Genting since 2005 and will also be the first time that a music festival is being held at the Genting Outdoor Theme Park. The festival will be divided into 3 arenas namely the XLIVE MAIN STAGE, XL-TRONIC & XLR8. Each arena will feature a multitude of quality international, regional and local acts which includes Missy Elliot, DJ Yoji, Dan The Automator, Filo & Peri, Marcus Schossow, Stylustiks, and Goodnight Electric and more.

Soho KL

SohoKL is tenanted with a total of 40 operators. Seven of them are nightclubs. The stores have made their SohoKL outlet their signature so expect surprises even from chain or franchise operators like Starbucks, Haagen-Daaz and Zen Secret Recipe.

Some names who set up shop there include Cocoon, Malaysia's first international champagne garden and Genji, which is expected to run Malaysia's largest Japanese buffet outlet.
