Minangkabau cuisine is known for its hot and spicy dishes with rich taste of coconut milk and generous use of Bird’s Eye Chilies or Cili Padi in Malay. Guest Chef Don or Hamidon Hasha Akhbar will be sharing his vast knowledge and culinary skill at Paya Serai.

Penang Island Jazz Festival

The 7th Edition of The Penang Island Jazz Festival will be held from the 2nd to 5th of December 2010.

The Main feature of the Festival - the outdoor "Jazz By The Beach" (Main Stage) will be at the Bayview Beach Resort Gardens on the 4th & 5th of December starting from 6.30pm to 11pm featuring five (5) acts (local and international) per night.

Among some this year's Main Stage performers are PESSOC (Penang State Symphony Orchestra), Brazilian Guitarist /Percussionist Celso Machado, Co-Winners of The Nordic Jazz Comets Competition from Norway - PELbO, Aca Pella Group - Stouxingers from Germany, Rain Sultanov Quartet from Azerbaijan, SC Yun Trio from Korea, Boi Akih from Netherlands and two time Grammy Nominee - Tommy Emmanuel.

As in the past 6 years, a host of other supporting activities will be held in conjunction with this year's Festival, which will include a Photography Competition and Exhibition entitled "The Sound I See - Jazz In Penang" organized by The Penang Jazz Community, "An Evening With" series at G Spot at G Hotel, "Jazz With A Heart" Charity Dinner, Music Workshops, The Island Jazz Forum, Afternoon Fringe Stage performances at G Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel and Bayview Beach Resort, Community Drum Circle, A Jazz Gallery Exhibition of Posters, Print Paintings, Photographs and Percussion at the foyer of the Grand Ballroom of Bayview Beach Resort and others.

Ticket price for the Festival's Main Stage - "Jazz By The Beach" programme on the 4th and 5th of December is RM60.00 (inclusive of RM3 ticketing fee) per night.

Steep climbs and rocky descents await riders on the notoriously challenging KL Mountain Bike Carnival course. Now in its eight year, the Carnival will host national and international mountain bikers for a weekend of racing in Bukit Kiara. Heats are held on Saturday but Sunday is when it’s all decided.
