Red Bull Thre3style showcase with DJ Nu Mark

Leading up to the Red Bull Thre3style local competition on Mar 8, Los Angeles-based DJ Nu Mark, a regular performer for the Red Bull Thre3style series, will be in town for a special live set this Feb 22. A former member of critically acclaimed hip hop outfit Jurassic 5, Nu Mark has gone on to tour all over the world, and has worked with Nas, Damian Marley and The Lonely Island to name a few. 

Known for experimenting with children's music toys in his DJ sets, Nu Mak's KL set will surely be a unique experience for all. Also spinning for the night will be local DJs Fuzz, Cza and Bunga (Twilight Action Girl).

Star Trek: The Exhibition

Malaysian Trekkies can now live out their fantasies at the National Science Centre's latest exhibition of epic sci-fi proportions. Fresh from its successful run in Vancouver, Star Trek: The Exhibition makes it way to KL as part of the first leg of its Asian tour. The exhibition features an interactive, museum-style experience of what's said to be the largest collection of authentic 'Star Trek' artefacts on public display.  

Sets, show costumes, props and other priceless museum pieces from all five of the 'Star Trek' TV series and 11 feature films – including the 2009 JJ Abrams reboot – will be on display. Other attractions include the opportunity to sit in Captain Kirk's iconic chair, as well as a seven-metre replica of the USS Enterprise and Star Trek transporter among many others.

Underwater Lion Dance

 

This Chinese New Year, be one of the first to witness an underwater lion dance performance in Malaysia. There will also be a scuba Tsai-Shen (Feb 10-24, 12noon & 3pm) appearance during the daily feeding show at the Aquatheatre along with the opportunity to meet the God of Prosperity and Rocky the shark (Feb 10-24, 11am & 4pm). Ice Age @Kiara

If you're on the lookout for a free and open circuit to cycle without traffic obstruction, Publika is now providing that space. Every Sunday, families, youths and residents of all ages can cycle, roller-blade or bring out the scooters and baby prams as they wish. Publika will also loan bikes for free to those who do not own one.

Penang World Music Festival 2013

The 2013 Edition of the Penang World Music Festival (PWMF) will take place from March 30 to 31, and the list of bands performing at the festival is nothing less than impressive. The venue will once again be the Quarry Park at the Penang Botanic Gardens. It is a tranquil and nature-inspired setting to showcase the diverse range of musicians that will be making Penang home in the last week of March this year.

A total of 12 bands will be featured at the festival during the two days. Among them are Mu from Portugal, Kimi Djabate (Guinea- Bissau), Nasout (Iran), Alp Bora Quartet (Turkey), Saharadja (Indonesia), Inka Marka (South America), Kalayo (Philippines) and Malaysian bands.
