A new kind of Equinox comes to Kuala Lumpur this month when New York-based acappella group The Breakers take centre stage at the Securities Commission Auditorium from 14-16 April, to dazzle music and performing arts lovers with their outstanding vocals and showmanship. Lead by 27-year-old Malaysian Adam Farouk, a Cameronian Arts Award nominee this year for Best Musical Director, The Breakers will elevate live music to new heights as they add a modern twist to the time-honoured art of vocal performance. This gifted group of five young men promises nothing less than a spectacular 90-minute show. The Breakers feature the talents of Andy Goldin, Chris Wildeman, Gregory Pratt, Steve Engelbrecht and Adam Farouk. Together they have toured Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and The Netherlands as part of the Cornell University vocal group The Hangovers. Later they formed The Breakers with the purpose of exploring alternative forms of musical expression, concentrating their efforts on contemporary acappella. “These guys are among the most skilled vocalists and talented performers with whom I have ever worked,” says Adam, who has also performed with West End actor Sean Ghazi. “EQUINOX will give audiences an opportunity to experience music in one of its purest forms.
