Panggung Bandaraya
4th - 8th August 2004

The musical is inspired and drawn from a collection of the more elemental and spiritual songs from the earlier musicals such as Carousel, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat; to the more recent arrivals such as Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, The Rose of Sharon, etc. as well as some well loved numbers. The musical numbers will be in the form of solos, mixed vocal arrangements, choral numbers and medleys and seek to reassure, cheer, reflect, impart endurance, comfort, encourage, conquer, strengthen, inspire, defend, convict, bring hope, challenge, redeem, pacify, honour, celebrate, express love and bring restoration.
The production with a cast of 31 and a music ensemble of about 16 musicians who are all volunteers, will feature a preview and run for an estimated 7 performances inclusive of matinees over the weekend. Work on the production began with rehearsals for movement in February 2004 while rehearsals for the chorus began a month later. The Panggung Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur is a historical landmark which offers a wonderfully intimate theatre and great acoustics.

Sarawak, Borneo (Malaysia) will be hosting the annual Rainforest World Music Festival on the 9th - 11th July 2004. It's something not to be miss out if you are travelling approximate to this part of the world
Excerpt from the website : "...... a unique festival that brings together on the same stage renowned world musicians from all continents and indigenous musicians from the interiors of the mythical island of Borneo.
The 3 days festival is held at the Sarawak Cultural Village, a living museum where the traditional habitats of Sarawak's major ethnic groups have been lovingly reproduced. Set amid lush rainforest greenery at the foothills of jungle clad Mount Santubong, and a stone's throw away from the beach resorts of the Santubong peninsula, the village provides the ideal venue for this festival that celebrates nature, ethnic music and the indigenous cultures of the world.
Its formula of afternoon interactive workshops, ethno-musical lectures, jamming sessions and mini concerts, followed by evening performances on the main stage has proven to be a hit with the audience, a hodgepodge of locals, expatriates and a growing number of tourists from near and far. "

Fever in Penang
Rumours have been flying around for months and tongues have been wagging endlessly, but
now we can confirm and give you the real deal on what's going on. A brand new club is opening in Penang, and it's being helmed by our very own BadBoyBen. With every aspect of the club being kept under tight wraps all the way, we can now reveal that the club's name is FEVER, and is scheduled to open on the 31st of July, 2004.
With most clubs in Penang having failed to live up to their hype and ludicrous claims of the "best" clubbing experience falling well short of the mark, Ben aims to create a cosy and intimate environment that will let clubbers let their hair down in style. As he says himself, "Living and working in Penang, I'm constantly disappointed with the entertainment available here. Penang deserves so much more than what's currently on offer. With Fever, we aim to give Penangites a club they can be proud of. It's not going to be an easy task, but I've got a fantastic team working with me to help realize this vision. My partners also understand that it's going to take an awful lot of work to make it happen, so I'm grateful to them for their support and faith in me."
The music played at FEVER will be an exciting combination of R&B and house, with a few extra surprises thrown in for good measure. Since the musical direction will be steered by Ben himself, expect nothing less than the best. But what's a good tune without a good drink? Running the hell away from the whisky and coke mentality of most clubs in Malaysia, Ben is working closely with his bar team to come up with a tantalizing drinks menu that will turn Penang's drinking culture on it's head.
Sounds too good to be true? Check it out for yourself on the 31st!
VITAL STATISTICS: FEVER is a 8,000 sq.ft. fully restored heritage house that is situated smack in the middle of Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, one of Penang's most picturesque roads in the downtown area of Georgetown. Comprising of a club and an outdoor cafe, FEVER also boasts an adjoining carpark that can easily accomodate at least 250 cars (and that's a conservative estimate) ... !!! FEVER - 48, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, Penang

"SLEEPWALKERS" presents SANJAY MISTRY (UK)
Sanjay Mistry began his addiction to house when
he was only 13, and like many kids his age, was
later inspired by the sounds of Pete Tong and
Danny Rampling on Radio 1. Gradually,
Sanjay became more involved with the music and
quickly started tracking down the local records
shops in his home town, Leicester. Their, his
sound had really started to develop, being
introduced to all forms of house music.
At only 17 at the time, Sanjay hosted his
own ‘Housewerk’ radio show on Loughborough
student station, LCR. Here, he channelled his
efforts into producing and hosting a show which
would hopefully attract DJs he had long-admired
for, such as DJs U-Freqs, Rob Mello, Tyler
Stadius, Chris Duckenfield, and Asad Rizvi
amongst a hatful of others, as well as
championing ‘local/unknown talent’ that he is
fond of. His hard work had paid off with the
show receiving great accolades from many of the
DJs that had appeared, and was later featured
in the last ever issue of ‘Muzik’ magazine,
describing him as ‘the next Pete Tong !’
