Sarawak Rainforest World Music Festival

2007 is the 10th Anniversary of the Rainforest World Music Festival. It is going to be a massive reunion party where only bands who have played over the last 9 years will be returning to Santubong where the festival is held. Over 20,000 people are expected to converge under the night stars and canopy of the rainforest in the Sarawak Cultural Village. With a performers line up from all over the world, it will be an aural buffet of all sorts for everyone. The Rainforest World Music Festival is a unique festival that brings together on the same stage renowned world musicians from all continents and indigenous musicians from the interiors of Borneo. The festival will have a total of 19 bands. Each of the bands will have the opportunity to play at least once on main stage, while most will be taking part in the various workshops, some of which would be interactive ones throughout the three days. The festival site also sets up a variety of food and drink stalls, an arts and crafts area as well as a counter for festival memorabilia, Sarawak souvenirs and CDs by the performing artists, all this contributing to a fun filled, wholesome festival experience. World Music plus a country fair atmosphere in the midst of lush greenery! The festival is organized by the Sarawak Tourism Board and it will be held at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Santubong on the 13th, 14th and 15th of July. Tickets are already on sale and can be bought online at http://www.ticketcharge.com.my/ as well as at all Visitor Information Centres in Kuching, Miri and Sibu. Tickets are priced at RM80 for a one day Adult Pass, and RM200 for a 3-day Adult Pass. Children aged 3 – 12 years of age can purchase half priced tickets. Evening shows will start at dusk from 7.30 pm while numerous workshops will be held at different longhouses at the Sarawak Cultural Village in the afternoons.
