SPCA Sunday Special - Pulau Ketam Dogs

We are happy to update you on the progress of the 23 dogs we have rescued from Pulau Selat Kering, as well as the 4 neutered strays from Pulau Ketam and two puppies found at the orang asli settlement. Read on to meet the 28 lovely island dogs, who are in good health and slowly beginning to trust again. While many of them are still timid around people, dedicated volunteers like Roli and Marianne continue to spend time socializing them, giving them the attention and love that they need!

These amazing dogs are up for immediate adoption. Your ongoing support enables us to ;

* continue our rescue & relief work at Pulau Selat Kering and the surrounding islands, there appears to be another 8-10 dogs still on the islands

* Feed, shelter, care for and provide medical treatment for the rescued dogs, as well as the neutered strays from Pulau Ketam

* Offer free neutering for pets and community animals in Pulau Ketam, to prevent the population from growing further. During our first Kempen Kembiri supported by the Dept of Vet Services and UPM, 23 dogs and 7 cats were neutered for free, and our Klinik Kembiri team stayed for 3 days to provide post-op monitoring and care

* Carry out our education work through street teams in PulauKetam, highlighting the importance of neutering and this month dog bite prevention. Over 30 volunteers went door-to-door at our last Kempen Kembiri, and managed to secure registrations of 24 more animals - 12 cats and 12 dogs - for the Kempen Kembiri this month!

Please do drop by to meet these lovely islanders any day from 9am - 4pm at the SPCA Animal Shelter in Ampang Jaya. We would appreciate any donations of dog kibbles, canned food and dog treats for these dogs, as well as old towels, anti-bacterial detergents and newspaper.
